About Us

The Breath Alcohol Section of the laboratory is responsible for the maintenance and calibration of secondary chemical (evidential) breath alcohol testing instruments for the State of West Virginia. Maintenance and calibration adjustments of preliminary breath testing instruments can be performed upon request. The section provides operator training for the secondary chemical breath testing instrument through coursework offered by the WVSP Academy.


Educational Requirements

Baccalaureate or advanced degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, forensic sciences, natural sciences, or related field.​
